5 Ways to Find Freedom in Imperfection

5 Ways To Find Freedom In Imperfection

imperfectImperfection is not the opposite of perfection, as if it is a state not to be desired. Instead, freedom in imperfection is the state of acceptance of self through love. Without seeing who you truly are, you won’t know what to change and what to improve. Perfectionism throws everything out the window. Here I reveal ways to truly be free by letting yourself live as you are.

Oh don’t’ misunderstand me, I get it. We all look at others with the critical eye and wonder how their life is ‘so together’ while we struggle just to get out of bed sometimes. Yet what we don’t know is, they too are working through a battle of their own to be accepted or overcome a bad habit that is destroying them inside. It’s time to stop the wishful thinking and comparing your worst to someone else’s best.

Why can’t life be perfect?

“I am Me”

“Accept me as I am” is a battle cry.

Freedom in Imperfection Will Help You Soar

It doesn’t mean that you won’t change detrimental habits because you are embracing who you are. It also doesn’t mean that you are promoting laziness or lack of ambition. What it does mean is that you have taken a look inside of yourself and seen who the person inside truly is. There are things that you like about yourself and also things that you don’t, but it all works together to become the person that you are today.

True change in your life is an act of love. You can lose weight when you love who you are right now at your current weight. It means that your life, self-esteem, and happiness are not tied to a number. Anything done out of self-hate doesn’t usually last because you are always criticizing your efforts. Nothing is ever good enough because you start off not liking anything about yourself from the beginning. You’d leave your own body if you could.

There is nothing healthy about that. Imperfection says that the only way through is with love on board. Accepting and embracing you by celebrating why you are unique. It is getting reacquainted with yourself through a few steps that show the value that was there all along.

5 Ways to Imperfect Freedom

  1. Take some serious time for introspection – Don’t be afraid to look at yourself honestly. Write down what is positive and what is negative in your eyes. Find ways to change the wording of those negatives so they are now positives that you can embrace. If you think that your ankles are big, find shoes to wear that minimize their appearance as such.
  2. Try something new – Try bold colors for clothing or change your hairstyle. There’s nothing wrong with experimenting with new looks to accentuate your positives and give yourself a confidence boost.
  3. Discover what you like to do and don’t like to do – Don’t be afraid to say “no” to events or activities that don’t foster your interests just because it’s a “cool” or “acceptable” thing to do.
  4. Laugh more – Laughter promotes feel-good endorphin release. Take time out to have fun and take a rest. It is restorative and also promotes health.
  5. Explore your creative side –Are you a “right-brained” person? Find out if you have any creative tendencies. Stimulate that side of your brain to bring out attributes you didn’t know you had.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life. What can you do today, so that you don’t have regrets tomorrow?

Allow yourself to be human, flawed and free by embracing your imperfect life.

Are you making strides to accept and embrace who you are, or have you been there and wish to help someone along their journey? Leave a comment below and tell us about it.

Expect Greater, or Consent to Mediocrity

expect You get what you expect!

If you only focus on the here and now, regardless of your current circumstances, you don’t have the right to expect a better life.

It takes a vision formulated in your heart and mind, to inspire you to action. The consistent right action eventually leads to desired results. Yes, it requires change, however, if nothing is changed, nothing will change.

3 Keys to Expect Greater

  1. Be optimistic: “Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.” – Helen Keller
  2. Plan properly: “The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today.” – H. Jackson Brown, Jr.
  3. Have a vision: “Where there is no vision, there is no hope.” – George Washington Carver

In an earlier post, we talked about some benefits of goal-setting. However, even the best-laid plans to reach your goals are useless without great expectations.

I know you may be thinking about all of the mistakes of your past. Trust me, we’ve all made decisions and acted on impulse, only to regret those actions later. If you’re human you’ve experienced the disappointment of being let down. However, the greatest setbacks have resulted in even greater comebacks.

The secret to your comeback is how you view those pesky challenges that have kept you from living your best life. It starts with managing your expectations, which can be done without compromising your standards. In Expectation Hangover, you’ll uncover how to free yourself from your past and move onto a life without limits and greater expectations.

What you can expect from No-Limit Life

Here is a short list of the titles we are working on for the next few posts. Take a look and let us know if there is one you’re more excited about than another. Also, take a moment to make suggestions of the kinds of posts or content you’d like us to consider.

By now you may be wondering if my intent is to brainwash you. Well, as a matter of fact, you are correct. No situation can be changed with the same level of thinking that got you there in the first place. Again, in order for something to be different, the origin has to be different.

What to expect from yourself expect

As much as I would enjoy that level of influence over you, there is no way I can tell you what to expect from yourself. Because if it were that simple, there would be no room for mediocrity in the entire world, because of the overflowing abundance of personal success.

Therefore, here are a few suggested tips to help you take full advantage of the information we’ll routinely share on the No-Limit site:

  • Accept the challenge to your current way of thinking.
  • Seek out answers from trusted sources.
  • Ask specific questions anytime something is requested of you.
  • Be willing to change, at whatever cost.
  • Don’t settle for less than you truly desire in each important area of your life.
  • Set right priorities, set your plan, and take action on what you decide you want to accomplish.

Don’t Expect an Easy Road to Success

Since we all know there is no such thing as guaranteed success, however, there are guaranteed opportunities that can lead to success. The challenge for most is the negativity in the world constantly bombarding us. Of course, unless you live in a bubble, the media will gladly remind you of how impossible it is to achieve any relevant level of success.

The first step is to believe that you can achieve your dreams and goals. Then you must develop a can-do, no-quit attitude. Associate with like-minded individuals who share your drive for personal success. Someone that can hold you accountable, and encourage you when you’ve missed the mark. And lastly, feed your mind with sound success principle techniques and systematically apply what you’re learning.

It can feel overwhelming and you will fight through temptations to quit. However, remember to give yourself some time. Afterall what has taken decades to establish, is not going to change in 6 easy steps.

So there you have some food for thought. As you ponder the possibilities take a moment to share some of your tips for success, any recent ‘aha moments’, and what you’d like to accomplish in 2018!

5 Ways Goal Setting Can Increase Your Focus

goal settingGoal setting is the difference between a successful year and one full of regret.

Let’s face it since it’s that time of year again; we’re all contemplating our ideal year-end celebrations. We’ll want to reminisce about our wins, losses, and opportunities to learn and grow.

However, this is also the time of year that we want to put our best foot forward to assure more celebrations and fewer regrets.

What is goal setting anyway?

Goal setting is the process through which you think through your ideal future, and it creates the motivation for your vision of that future to become your reality. Although there are several paths to establishing goals, it is important to note that not every way works for everyone. Not everyone is motivated by the same things, or want to follow the crowd.

Goal setting should start with why. In the book, Start with Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action, Simon Sinek said, “Regardless of the process or the goals, we all want to make educated decisions. More importantly, we all want to make the right decisions.” Those decisions are primarily the result of your desired direction, goal setting is the same as deciding on the restaurant to celebrate a great achievement. It’s the vision that puts everyone on the same page.

Goal setting improves your focus.

In today’s ever-increasing flow of data, newsreels, and social media interests, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Sometimes our frustrations take place over priorities, especially when we feel obligated to voice our opinion. Since we only get a total of 168 hours a week, its vital that we are intentional about how we spend those precious hours.

Improve your focus 5 ways with goal setting

  1. A clear goal establishes the agreed target(s) and increases the energy required for execution.
  2. Goals with a specific date help to create momentum for its attainment and in every area of your life.
  3. Decisions are automatically filtered when you know what you’re working toward.
  4. Goals attached to a why creates possibilities when the achievement seems impossible.
  5. As long as you know where you’re headed, the detours don’t matter.

Why set goals?

Instead of sleepwalking through life, goal setting allows you to take control. Top level athletes, and successful people at every level set goals. It satisfies that innate urge to be better, to compete against the status quo. It also gives you the chance to maximize your results. In other words, since you’ve only got 168 hours this week, would it be fair to say that you want to most out of that time investment? Take the limits off of your life and be intentional about what you what your life to be or better yet, to become.

The Rest of Your Life Can Be the Best of Your Life

rest of your lifeThe key to living the rest of your life with purpose is not a pipe dream! It can be for you.

Have you ever wondered if where you are in life is where you should be? Have you also thought is there something more? What about those long urgings to have at least one month when all the bills are paid, everyone in the family is healthy, and you’re not feeling pressure about losing your job? Do those months exist? According to the media, everyone is going through and struggling with the same things. It almost makes you wonder, if living life is worth the time and trouble.

There is no need to live the rest of your life with compounded regrets over what didn’t go right. Although you may not be able to to do anything about the past, you are in complete control over what happens in your future!

Today is the First day of the rest of your life

If you think about it, no matter how old you are today really is the first day of your future. Each day indeed is a new day since we can only live through January 1, 2018, one time. That day will never come again, would you agree? Now that we’ve established that fact, it’s crucial that you also understand how to capitalize on your new found information.

5 Ways to make the rest of your life, the best of your life

  1. Change your attitude: According to dictionary.com attitude is the manner, disposition, feeling, position, etc., with regard to a person or thing; tendency or orientation, especially of the mind.  In this highly competitive world we’ve created (competition is a good thing by the way), it can be challenging to overcome failures. Sometimes we allow persistent failures to cause us to expect it. This mindset can lead to unconsciously becoming comfortable with failure. Therefore change your attitude and expect positive results, regardless of how it looks and the circumstances.
  2. Set SMART goals: Goal-setting may sound elusive. However, it is as simple as being intentional about what you’d like to accomplish and when. It’s important to know your why. In other words, determine what will motivate you to reach your goal, when those pesky challenges arise. For instance, you could set a goal like this:
    1. Goal: Complete 40 hour self-study baking course
      1. When: May 31, 2018
      2. How: Study/bake two times a week for 3 hours
      3. Where: My kitchen
      4. Why: To bake my wife’s favorite cake for her birthday
  3. Stop the blame game: Nothing will stop you from reaching your best more than the blame game. Oh sure, you’re familiar with people who always have an excuse as to why it’s not their fault. But did you know it’s also possible to accept blame for things entirely outside of your control? Professor and psychology expert Dr. Whitbourne suggests that we sometimes blame others as a way to defend or overshadow our shortcomings. On the other hand, blaming yourself could stem from the internal feeling of constant failure. Either way, its better to accept responsibility for your mistakes, learn from them and move on.
  4. Forgive yourself: To forgive is to let go of the past. No one ever made it to the top focusing on yesterday. As long as you’re human, you will make mistakes, but that is not an excuse to give up on your dreams. Just admit that you blew it, take ownership, and let yourself off the hook.
  5. Make it personal: In this culture of giving of our time, money and effort, it’s hard to find a good reason to be selfish. Oh don’t get me wrong I am all for helping out my fellow man. However, there are times when my wants are more important. If you genuinely want a better life, it’s not going to happen passively. Your life is not a movie when all of the sudden everything is magically perfect in the end. Make a personal promise to yourself, decide what you want and set goals to make it happen.

The rest of your life is Totally in your control

Sure I know what you’re thinking, ‘you don’t know what I’m dealing with.’ Although that may be true, the point is, that doesn’t matter. Regardless of your circumstances, you can be better, and have the life you want. Every successful person has had to overcome challenges, adversity, and obstacles.

Missing the train is an acceptable reason for not making it to the game on time. Using the excuse that your spouse forgot to set the alarm is not. In other words, your life is in your hands. That same persistence and creativity that it took to skip school is still a part of you. Now is the time to use those natural skills to become the person you know you can be and live an extraordinary life.

…Making the rest of your life the absolute best of your life.
